Renowned Angolan composer, guitarist and songwriter Waldemar Bastos has created a passionate and human statement on political issues since his debut in 1983. He’s beloved in his native country for his activism, for his survival as a political prisoner, and for creating the signature piece “Sofrimento,” which speaks to the Angolan struggle for justice. Bastos is known around the world for his blend of Afro-pop, Portuguese fado and Brazilian samba, as well as his song’s personal and heartfelt messages. He’ll bring his sensual and soulful voice to Los Angeles’ Artani Theatre as part of its Artani World Series.
