On Monday January 19th 2015, at approximately 1:46pm, police were dispatched to the intersection of King Street East and Parkdale Avenue South for a motor vehicle collision involving two pedestrians.
An 80 year old male and a 74 year old female, both Hamilton residents, were crossing northbound in the eastern crosswalk of the intersection when a 65 year old male, also a Hamilton resident, struck the pair with hisFord F350. Both pedestrians were sent to the hospital to receive emergency treatment.
The male pedestrian succumbed to his injuries later in the evening while the female remains with non-life-threatening injuries. The male driver was uninjured.
Speed and alcohol are not factors in this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
This collision is the 2nd fatality on Hamilton roadways in 2015 and the first pedestrian.
