A 36-year-old Eel River Bar, N.B. man has been charged in connection with the death of 2-year-old Kennedy Corrigan, who died as a result of a massive brain injury, on April 9, 2004.

James Paul Turpin appeared in Burton Provincial Court on June 3, 2015 and was charged with second degree murder. New evidence came forward that led police to lay the charge. That evidence will be presented in court.

The police allege that Kennedy was in Turpin's care at the time she was injured and she died from her injuries a few days later. Turpin was living in the house at the time but is not related to Kennedy Corrigan. The police do not believe anyone else was involved in her death.

Turpin was remanded and is scheduled to appear back in Burton Provincial Court on June 22, 2015 at 1:30 p.m.
