Mika Posen has a classical background, holds a Masters degree in Ethnomusicology, and is a veritable expert in the world of electronic effect pedals. Though she dabbles in country fiddling, Brazilian folk music, and experimental sound-making, popular and indie music are her areas of expertise. In recent years she has spent most of her time touring the world with Danish songstress Agnes Obel and Canadian band Timber Timbre. Between voyages she has lent her string talents to a number of Canadian artists including Broken Social Scene, Snowblink, Evening Hymns, Maylee Todd, Aline Morales, Basia Bulat, and Feist, while writing songs of her own under the monikers “Merganzer” and “The Meek.”

Versa is an audio/visual collaboration between process-based artist Monika Hauck and musician Alex Ricci. Influenced by contemporary soundscape, soundtrack music, instrumental post-rock and 60’s psychedelic, the project combines heavily effected bass guitar compositions with projected visuals created live on stage. Low frequencies are rendered visible in the undulating motion of water and coloured ink. Versa explores the physicality of sound, using paper marbling as a new way to record live music.
