Just like our movie hero, Robert Conway in Lost Horizon, the trek to Shangri La can seem so distant that we can’t even see the horizon, or the shard of light at the end of the tunnel. Each step can be difficult against fierce winds of doubt, unstable footing towards a goal steeped in mist so thick we can’t see our success; and the climate can be frighteningly cold. Colder than those calls one makes in hopes of gaining a sale. Somewhere across the blue horizon, Shangri La exists. It exists in those tiny graced moments that you savor at the end of a long project or business trip. It exists when you’re on a long commute sitting in traffic, yet still remember to notice the beauty around you in the trees or nature. And, it exists inside you when you take time to reflect on one single lovely thought. For me it’s the loving text message that arrives at exactly the right time during a very busy day when I’m far away on a trip in a different time zone and in that happy moment, I feel the connection of love. Focusing on one lovely thought at a time, while holding your hand over your heart and letting your breath find it’s own rhythm, immediately starts to release oxytocin the powerful hormone that soothes you into a state of extreme well-being. Simple, but effective. Believe……..
