By Stephen Pate – Microsoft has suffered a week of humiliation from Amazon.de, the German branch. The new Microsoft Lumia 950 Dual-SIM and Lumia 950 XL Smartphone have unresolved issues and Amazon is not standing behind the product.
The polite phrase used by Amazon.de is “Artikel wird überprüft” or “Item under review”
The translation is “While this item is available from other Marketplace Sellers on this page, it’s not currently offered by Amazon.de because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are dispatching it, or the way it’s described here. (Thanks for the tip!)”
I have seen this a few times and it usually means the product is defective and the manufacturer or supplier has not remedied the issues quickly. Bad reviews don’t get items pulled but defects will since Amazon offers no quibble returns on everything, even 3rd party products.
Amazon’s laser-like focus on customer satisfaction, product and pricing has made them the champions of online sales. In North America Amazon’s top 10 competitors sales added together do not equal Amazon’s sales.
The posting was reported on December 23, 2015 and has not been fixed yet. That’s unfortunate for Microsoft. It takes the wind out of their marketing sails for the launch of the new Windows 10 Mobile flagship phones. The timing could not be worse since it’s clear Microsoft has not responded and may not over the holidays.
The action by Amazon reinforces the negative reviews that are being published on the internet and the complaints by users of hot and short life batteries, spontaneous re-booting and other glitches.
It’s a black eye for Microsoft and one they seem unwilling or unable to remedy.
