Acharya Sri Khadi MadamaChapter – 5

Episode – 35

The next thing Gracie knew,  she awoke in her bed with her alarm going off to wake her to get ready for school. It was very odd. There was no one in the room when she awoke. No large pink divine oddly shaped being; no pink phone ringing; no portals opening up. Maybe she had dreamed the whole bunch of adventures. What day was it? Did she miss part of her life? In a moment, she could hear the cheery voice of her mother calling her for breakfast. How would she adjust to simply walking downstairs in her pajamas, eating breakfast foods, that aren’t pink, with her mother and try to adjust to just being her normal self again. And, what about her little mascot, Musika? It didn’t feel quite the same without him scampering about in her room or showing up on top on her head or in her pocket.

When Gracie entered the kitchen, her mother greeted her with a smile and a hug. It was if Gracie had never been anywhere, let alone Yoga*Land and ancient India or off saving Titanic. Her mother just seemed typically cheerful in spite of the fact that Gracie’s father was still MIA. Her mother always tried to take one day at a time. In fact, she sometimes told Gracie that she had to take things one hour at a time. They sat together in the cozy breakfast nook and ate together while streams of sunlight came in through the window. Funny, Gracie thought to herself. I don’t see anything pink, anywhere. Just as she was finishing the last morsel of breakfast, the mailman arrived and Gracie’s mother went out to retrieve the package, which was addressed to both her and Gracie. Gracie insisted, out of respect, that her mother open the package, which she did. Inside were two tubes of lipstick. On the side of the tube it said, SPEAKABLY, DELICIOUSLY, TIMELESSLY PINK. Next to the writing was the symbol of the pink question mark, the icon of Lord Ganesha’s trunk.
