Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 7700 Crestmont about 6:50 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 29).

Wilfred Jones (b/m, DOB: 4-10-53) is charged with murder in the 228th State District Court. Jones is accused in the killing of Michael Lee King, 50, of Houston. Lee suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K.J. Deese and Officer N.K. Wackman reported:

HPD patrol officers responding to a shooting in-progress call at the above address discovered Mr. King deceased on the sidewalk.

The investigation revealed the suspect, Jones, was in his truck when he was approached by King and the two men began to argue. The argument then escalated into a physical confrontation, during which Jones shot King.

Jones was taken into custody at the scene without incident.
