Suspects in the murder case of Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya were proven guilty on Thursday. The court passed its verdict and found the four accused men guilty of killing Lawiya. The decision gave closure to the victim’s daughter, Erni Dekritawati Yuliana Buhari.

“I am satisfied with the court’s decision and I thank the court and the media who have supported my family and I. I am lost for words to explain how I feel now. I am relieved this is over,” said Erni Dekritawati, also known as Rita.

The court found N. Pathmanabhan, T. Thilaiyalagan, R. Matan and R. Kathavarayan guilty and sentenced them to death for the murders of Sosilawati, bank officer Noorhisham Mohamad, lawyer Ahmad Kamil Abdul Karim and driver Kamaruddin Shansuddin.

Talking to the journalists, Rita said she did not have the courage to be in court before the decision was announced. She arrived at the court half an hour late. Rita is the eldest sibling and after her mother died, she inherited Sosilawati’s business empire.

Also present at court was the wife of another victim, bank officer Noorhisham Mohamad. Suzana Radin Pangat thanked God and was glad that her husband was given justice.

“I respect the court’s decision and am relieved that justice has been served in my husband’s death,” she said.
