On Sunday, May 23, 2010, the Homicide Squad attended the waterfront of Lake Ontario, near 125 Queen’s Quay East, acting on information about a body being placed in the lake.

Investigators worked alongside the Marine Unit and located a barrel containing human remains.

The victim has been identified as Quang Lu.  Mr. Lu was known to police and was identified by fingerprints.

The confirmation of the identity was made by the coroner’s office.

The 47-year-old man went missing from Markham in October 2007 after retuning from a trip to China.

Toronto Police said Lu was known to them and he had ties to Asian organized crime, known as "The Black Ghost".

"He did have some organized crime ties, and I am aware of that nickname," said the officer.

"Given that it appeared that Mr. Lu did live quite a high risk lifestyle, at this point I’d be foolish to say we’re not entertaining that there’s a criminal organization angle to this. Having said that, we are dilligent about keeping an open mind."
