Sooke son Michael McCormick charged with second degree murder

An arrest has been made in the murder of 64 year old Pamela DYER, of Sooke, BC. DYER’s body was found by a family friend in her French Road residence on July 20th, 2014. Investigations by police and the BC Coroners Service determined that Pamela’s death was a homicide.

Michael McCormick, 36 years old, of Sooke, BC, has been charged with the 2nd degreemurder of his mother, Pamela DYER.

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU), with support from the Sooke RCMP and RCMP Forensic Identification Section, conducted an exhaustive investigation into Pamela’s death. Based on the findings of this investigation, officers arrested Michael McCormick without incident shortly after 9:00 am this morning (September 17th, 2014).

VIIMCU Investigators have worked tirelessly over the last two months to answer the many questions surrounding Pamela’s death, states S/Sgt. Jeff McArthur, Commander of the Sooke RCMP. Their efforts, and those of our local officers, have resulted in the identification and arrest of the man we believe is responsible for Pamela’s murder.

McCormick remains in custody, pending his next scheduled Court Appearance.
