EPS Homicide Section detectives are releasing the name of the 44-year-old man who died Saturday, July 30.

The Medical Examiner has determined that Eric Dexter Janvier died from a stab wound while laying on a bench in front of the Boyle Street Coop building (101 Street & 105 Avenue).

Background:

Shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 30 downtown division patrol officers responded to a report of a stabbing in front of the Boyle Street Coop building. EMS also responded and transported the injured man to hospital where he died a short time later.

Follow-up work by investigators, which included reviewing video surviellance resulted in the arrest of a suspect. Charged with 2nd degree murder is Monwat Akool Madood, 21, of Edmonton.
