Prince George Regional Provincial Traffic Services continue their investigation into the fatal collision that claimed the life of a 57-year old Quesnel woman. The two (2) vehicle crash, involving a British Columbia Ambulance, occurred in Hixon BC on Aug 4, 2011. The crash, not only brought down hydro lines, but there was reason to believe a natural gas line valve had been broken. Therefore, for everyone’s safety, members of the RCMP, and the Hixon Volunteer Fire department, evacuated the residents in the area of the crash. It was later determined, by Fortis BC, that a gas leak had not occurred and residents were able to return to their homes safely.
Police, in conjunction with the BC Coroners’ office, continue their investigation to determine the cause of this crash. Police continue to interview witnesses, and are waiting for the results of other investigative avenues such as, the Collision Reconstructionist report, mechanical inspections on both vehicles, and the autopsy.
At the request of the family, the name of the deceased woman will not be released
