Union budget sessions and railway budget session dates have been finalized. The finance minister of India, Pranab Mukherji will present the union budget for 2012 – 2013 in the parliament on 16th of March and Dinesh Trivedi, Union Minister will present the railway budget 2012- 2013 on the 14th of March.

The budget session dates were decided at the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) this Monday, as informed by Pawan Kumar Bansal, the Minister of the Union Parliamentary Affairs.

President Pratiba Patel will open the budget discussion sessions in Lok Sabha with her address to the joint sitting of both houses of the parliament. At the same time, Economic Survey will be presented on 15th March.

Bansal made his statement, "In the CCPA meeting it has been decided that we will be recommending to the President that the Budget Session be summoned on March 12 and it should continue up to March 30. The address by the President will be on March 12. Railway Budget will be on March 14. The Economic Survey will be on March 15 and General Budget will be presented on March 16".

Generally, budget sessions begin in the third week of February. However, they were delayed this year due to elections taking place in UP, Punjab, Goa, Manipur, and Uttarakhand.
