Dates: April 10, 2012 to April 22, 2012
Location: TIFF Bell Lightbox

From April 10 to 22, TIFF Bell Lightbox will be turned over to the next generation of cineastes and filmmakers as the TIFF Kids International Film Festival (formerly the Sprockets Toronto International Film Festival for Children and Youth) takes over the building. Celebrating fifteen years of great children’s cinema with more than one hundred films from over twenty countries, TIFF Kids brings a world of film to Toronto’s youngest audiences, along with an exciting lineup of special guests, imaginative and interactive activities and showcases for young filmmakers. TIFF Kids offers a diverse slate of films from Canada and around the world films that take children and parents out of the everyday, and use the power of film to foster thought and encourage discussion about the complex and challenging issues facing young people today, and have lots of fun doing it. Whenever possible screenings include an opportunity to engage in discussions with filmmakers and special guests to further explore the film’s ideas, themes, storytelling techniques and much more. To ensure that children and youth of all age groups have the opportunity to experience Canadian and international cinema made especially for them, this year we have divided the former Sprockets into two unique festivals. * The TIFF Kids International Film Festival offers film programming for ages 3 through 13 from April 10 to 22. * Youth aged 14 through 18 will be able to enjoy the first ever TIFF Next Wave Film Festival from May 10 to 12. Also new this year is Toronto’s first ever digiPlaySpace a space where parents and children can immerse themselves in a digital adventure! With TIFF Kids, you can be sure the time your family spends in the theatre will be more than just a day at the movies. We look forward to seeing you and your children at this year’s Festival!
