Help Conjunto Jardin celebrate their quinceañera — their 15th anniversary together as a son jarocho band, bringing the music of Veracruz, Mexico to Los Angeles. A danceable, syncopated sound that took the world by storm in the 1950s, son jarocho traces its roots back to 17th and 18th century Spanish dance and musical styles, mixed with African and indigenous influences. For this special concert, Conjunto Jardin will be joined by son jarocho legend Alberto de la Rosa, Don Fallo Figueroa & Son Candela and their more contemporary take on the classic Veracruz sound, guitarist Ciro Hurtado and the Tierra Blanca Dance Company. Veracruzano poet Rafael Figueroa will serve as the evening’s emcee.
