India have already successfully sealed the ODI series against Sri Lanka with an invincible 3-1 lead from the first four ODI matches and will be a relaxed and confident to take on the final ODI which will be played at Pallekele on August 4. It was a very important series for the Indians as they were coming off a long break and also that the past few series hadn’t gone well for them. So a series win will give MS Dhoni’s men a lot of confidence for the upcoming tournaments.
India have shown consistency and have dominated the five-match series right from the start, except the second ODI, which they lost by nine wickets, after coming into the tournament following a prolonged break. The visitors took an undisputable 3-1 lead after winning the fourth One-Dayer by six wickets in their last outing and Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s men will now aim to end the series on a high. The probable Indian squad include: MS Dhoni (c & wk), Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, R Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha, Zaheer Khan, Umesh Yadav, Ashok Dinda, Irfan Pathan, Ajinkya Rahane, Manoj Tiwary and Rahul Sharma.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, never bargained to be 1-3 down with just one match left in the One-Day series and Mahela Jayawardene’s men will hope to save some pride by making it 2-3 rather than facing the 1-4 humiliation. Jayawardene has honestly accepted that the hosts were simply not good enough against the world champions and blamed their inconsistency for the series loss. The Sri Lankan team likely to play may include: Mahela Jayawardene (capt), Angelo Mathews (vice-capt), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Upul Tharanga, Dinesh Chandimal (wk), Thisara Perera, Lahiru Thirimanne, Lasith Malinga, Chamara Kapugedera, Rangana Herath, Sachithra Senanayake, Jeevan Mendis, Isuru Udana and Nuwan Pradeep.
