And what a run it has been — from his early days with the Miracles and hits like “Tears of a Clown” and “You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me” to his solo years with singles such as “Cruisin’,” “One Heartbeat” and “Just to See Her.” Along the way, he’s won Grammy Awards, been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and served as an executive at Motown. Thrillingly, Words not only takes a look into Smokey’s bio but is also a journey through American history in the words of an international icon.
