Two people were killed and one injured in a car accident which took place just east of Ottawa at early Sunday morning. The Ontario Provincial Police reported that car crash occurred on McCormick Road in North Glengarry Township. After receiving the information, officers from the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry were sent to respond to the scene at about 1 a.m.
The official OPP news release confirmed that a 25-year-old male driver was journeying towards east on McCormick Road when the 2006 Cadillac crashed and hit a tree. The driver, Kevin Menard of South Glengarry, was injured severely and had to be shifted to a hospital immediately. Hence he was airlifted to the Ottawa Hospital's Civic campus. On the other hand, 21 years old Colin Joseph Geddis and 26 years old Jasmine Morris died at the spot. Both of them were from Alexandria.
The OPP is still investigating the vehicle crash and the department has not yet discovered the cause of accident. The most likely causes of death are listed by the police to be either over speeding, distractions, alcohol or weather.
Const. Pete Robertson, from the OPP, announced that "we’re going to find out where the people were coming from, what they were doing, where they were going. Once we determine all of those things then we can find out whether or not charges will be laid.”
