This rendition of Jane Austen’s popular romantic masterpiece returns to Los Angeles in the middle of a national tour. L.A. Theatre Works’ version is based on Christina Calvit’s beloved stage adaptation and comes during the 200th anniversary of the novel. Published in 1813, Jane Austen’s novel is both a love story and a biting social satire that remains popular today for its wit and emotional resonance. Mr. and Mrs. Bennett have five daughters that they must marry off, so when two eligible young men arrive in the area, it seems like dream come true. But when the strong-willed and intelligent Elizabeth Bennett meets the aloof but honest Mr. Darcy, a chain of events is set in motion that turns the Bennett household upside down. Performances are costumed with limited sets, and will be recorded for radio.
