Speaking to Gurtong shortly after Traffic Police Graduation ceremony at Hotel Torit, the Health Minister Dr. Margaret Itto Leonardo said the immunization is expected to run from Tuesday to Friday.
She advised all parents and guardians to let their children to be immunized with the polio vaccines.
The ministry sent off 1,600 polio vaccinators and supervisors for the door-to-door campaign.
The Minister believes the immunization the vaccinators would cover the whole state in the four days of national polio immunization.
The Minister said her ministry follows the central government’s policy to ensure South Sudan is 100% polio free.
According to Dr. Itto, the vaccines will help safeguard the children against the other six killer diseases such as tuberculosis, tetanus, measles, diphtheria and tetanus.
