The MPP of South Mississauga South, Charles Sousa, who recently made the announcement of giving up his post and competing for the provincial Liberal leadership, promises that he will stress on the federal government to initiate a high-speed rail link project if he becomes premier.

Sousa made the statement on Wednesday, claiming that “forever we’ve been talking about a high-speed rail from Windsor to Quebec City,” “Well let’s get on it. Let’s initiate some change. That’s going to help us initiate some jobs. It’s going to help us prepare for the future because this is all about making decisions today to have greater long-term benefit.”

54-years-old Sousa has the experience of the minister of citizenship and immigration and minister of labor since the elections of 2007. Before that, he worked for more than 20 years at the Royal Bank of Canada, serving in several senior positions. Sousa now claims that his main goal is to create jobs, and he would be the “jobs premier.”

Sousa alleged that the “Government doesn’t produce jobs, businesses and entrepreneurs do,” and “what we need to do as a government is provide stimulus, the programs to enable those jobs to flourish, to invite and initiate some of that. In the end all of the decisions we make should revolve around how do we make a new job, and that in turn will provide greater economic benefit to enable us to afford the things that matter.” He asserted “It’s all about being fiscally responsible and socially and environmentally conscious.”
