The Ontario police are searching for a driver of hit-and-run Hummer case, who escaped a crime scene, after hitting a van on the New Year’s Day which killed a seven-year-old boy at about 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The victimized boy was among the six passengers, including four children and two adults, travelling in the van towards west on Highway 401 near Dixie.
OPP Const. Dave Woodford revealed that the van was hit from the rear side, explaining that “the boy was sitting in the rear on the right side and it almost looks like the Hummer hit that right corner, took out the whole corner of that van and continued on.” The brutally hurt boy was dashed to the emergency of Trillium Health Centre, but unfortunately failed to survive despite the medical attention. Other passengers received several non-serious injuries only. Woodford confirmed that the driver is still at loose as of Wednesday.
Woodford disclosed that the local police discovered the Hummer involved in the case, which remains in police custody while police continues the search to find the driver. He alleged that “[The Hummer] was found by the Dixie Road area” and “It was abandoned, no driver in the vehicle. Right now we have canine at the scene and assistance from Peel Regional Police looking for the driver.” The collector lanes of the 401 westbound at Dixie were kept close for general traffic, as the investigation team gathered evidence, for several hours.
