Dr. Barnaba Marial, government spokesperson in a statement to the press after the Friday’s Council of Ministers chaired by the President said that the government has greatly welcomed the signing of the integrated matrix.
“The council of Ministers with the President of the Republic of South Sudan Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit as the Chairperson has decided to form a high-level implementation body to oversee the implementation and with relevant ministries,” Marial said.
“The Council also decided that there should be a formation of a coordination committee by the government of the RSS to work together with Sudan how this process of the implementation should go ahead,” Marial added.
He said the formation of the committees, decision taken by the government marks the full commitment of the South Sudanese government on the implementation of the agreements.
The integrated matrix is a deal brokered by the African Union High Level Implementation Panel and signed by the long-term two foes; Sudan and South Sudan as an implementation modality for the full implementation of the cooperation agreement which the duo signed last year in September but failed to implement.
The cooperation agreement spells out on how best the two countries can sort out the implementation of the remaining post secession issues they failed to implement during the course of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA).
Among others includes; question on temporary security in Abyei, border demarcation, oil, trade, and Mile-14.
Analysts have commended that; full implementation of the cooperation agreement would diffuse bitter relations between the two countries.
