Five suspects involved in conspiring to attack army personnel and lawmakers were detained from the prisons of Bahawalpur and Adiala on Wednesday. Investigation agencies have moved the suspects to an anonymous location for detailed interrogation. The detainees are allegedly associated with banned groups such as TTP.
The officers of investigation agencies identified the men through their telephonic discussions with people of criminal profile in Miranshah and Kohat. They allegedly issued directions to conduct terrorist attacks on army personnel and to abduct their family members. A few men including Moazzam, Kafeel Khan and Javed Marwat have been identified for alleged involvement in the conspiracy. These men reside in Miranshah and Kohat.
The two main suspects, Waheedullah and Tauqir, were taken from the jail in Bahawalpur. Both were arrested in 2009 under the charges of targeting military convoy and considered experts of making homemade bombs. Spy agencies are also hunting down men with whom the prisoners communicated.
The authorities of Adiala jail refused to comment on the situation. Earlier in 2012, a deadly attack on the central jail in KP resulted in the escape of over 300 prisoners including Adnan Rasheed, the main suspect in a terrorist attack on former President Pervez Musharraf.
