The Polish film In the Name of comes to Outfest, the LGBT Film Festival of Los Angeles, to stir passions and ignite debates. A winner at this years Berlinale, In the Name of tells the story of Father Adam, a handome Catholic priest beloved by the rural village he serves. Unflinching in his faith and direct in his approach, the priest attracts men and women alike. None of their advances appeal, however, until Lukasz, an orphan and accused arsonist, comes into his life. Sudden the priest’s faith comes into question, as the Adam’s lust for Lukasz turns into love. Charged with golden light, director Malgoska Szumowska (Elles, 33 Scenes from Life) situates this story of forbidden love and public retribution in the gorgeous Polish heartland.
