The first major work from composer Jason Robert Brown, creator of the acclaimed musicals 13 and the Tony-winning Parade, is a showcase of exquisitely-crafted songs linked thematically through several different characters, each of whom faces an important turning point in their lives. The mix of pop, gospel, jazz and classical styles reflects different time periods, ranging from 1492 to today, as it dissects the American dream. Songs for a New World first debuted Off-Broadway in 1995.
