In a statement released by the office of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Spokesperson, Ariane Quentier, the United Nations Police (UNPOL) will be led by its Commissioner Fred Yiga for the leadership council.

“The Extraordinary Police Leadership Council will be chaired by the Minister of Interior and Wildlife Conservation, Hon. Aleu Anyeny Aleu.

It will be attended by the SSNPS leadership, State Police Commissioners and senior police officers from all 10 states,” Quentier said.

“One of the objectives of the conference is to set SSNPS strategic objectives for 2014 and beyond. UNPOL will be providing necessary support to SSNPS.”

The meeting will follow up on the implementation of previous resolutions adopted during the last Police Leadership Council which took place in Rajaf in April.

“Recommendations and resolutions will be endorsed at the end of the meeting to consolidate the outcomes and findings, and map out the way forward for SSNPS,” she explained.
