As part of the camp, the Canadian Para Soccer team will host an open house on 31 July with an invitation to athletes will a disability to either watch or even partake in parts of the training session. The invitation was sent by the Ontario Cerebral Palsy Sports Association to athletes in the Ontario region.
"We would like to thank Milltown FC for their support in bringing us to Milton," said national head coach Drew Ferguson. "The team put lots of time and energy into organizing this event."
The Milton camp will be Canada’s third of four preparation camps in advance of this October’s regional qualifiers for the world championships. This year’s qualifiers will take place in Argentina.
"I am bringing in the main core of the senior players along with two young players from the development program and two new players who came to us in May," said Ferguson. "The coaching staff is excited to see these players fight for a spot on this October’s roster for Argentina."
Canada’s national Para Soccer Team is sponsored by BMO Financial Group. The recruitment program has recently been given a boost by BMO. Print advertisements running in specialty media such as Abilities Magazine encourage people who have suffered a stroke or brain injury, to learn more about the team and the try out process by contacting coach Drew Ferguson at dferguson@soccercan.ca.
