Los Angeles Women’s Shakespeare Company and The Odyssey Theatre Ensemble present Hamlet, co-directed by Lisa Wolpe and Natsuko Ohama. Shakespeare’s Hamlet is considered by many to be one of the greatest plays ever written. This timeless, classically inspired production opens with Hamlet returning home to Castle Elsinore after learning of his father (the king’s) death. He finds his uncle married to his mother and installed on the Danish throne. At night, the ghost of the old king demands that Hamlet avenge his “foul and most unnatural murder.” This tragic tale of power, murder, madness, espionage and betrayal marks the 20th anniversary of the award-winning Los Angeles Women’s Shakespeare Company.
