Toronto Police detectivies have contradicted Mayor Rob Ford’s statement alleging that he has been cleared of any wrongdoing in the investigation looking into the infamous crack video. Addressing reporters on Thursday, Mayor Ford stated that “I know I did nothing wrong,” adding that “I knew the day was going to come that I’d be cleared and I guess today’s the day.” However, the lead investigator looking into the probe alleged that it’s not case

The Toronto police homicide detective leading the investigation, Det-Sgt. Gary Giroux, stated that “I have seen some of those comments myself,” and added that “what I am seeing on the news is not overly accurate. It’s my investigation, and my investigation is still going.” According to recently unveiled court documents, Toronto police confiscated an iPhone that belonged to the mayor’s friend and former driver, Alexander “Sandro” Lisi, and took it to California where Apple Inc. unlocked 10 gigabytes of data.

Upon inquiry about whether he went through the evidence on the phone, Giroux declined to comment and said that its “evidentiary stuff, I can’t get into.” In response to reports alleging that the Crown has said that charges were unlikely, Toronto police spokesperson, Mark Pugash, replied that Project Brazen 2 is an “ongoing criminal investigation.” He explained that “when it’s finished we expect to sit down with the Crown and the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) and we will jointly decide what the next steps are.”
