The Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif along with the Army Chief Gen Raheel Shareef along with the Defense Minister Khwaja Asif, Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch visited the Corps Headquarters in Peshawar this Friday. The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan and the Chief Minister of KPK Pervez Khattak and Chief were also present on the occasion.
The prime minister laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shohada and offered Fateha. The Corps Commander Peshawar Lt Gen Khalid Rabbani briefed the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and COAS General Raheel Sharif on the ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan. The mission Zarb-e-Azb is a military operation taking place in the North Wazirisitan region of Pakistan to completely eliminate the terrorists hiding in the mountainous territory. The Prime Minister was told in the briefing that 232 terrorists had been killed so far during the Operation Zarb-e-Azb and 20 hideouts of the militants had been destroyed whereas eight personnel of security forces embraced martyrdom and seven others were injured.
The Prime Minister was told that Miranshah and Mir Ali areas are completely surrounded by the security forces. The PM was also briefed on facilities being provided to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and this evacuation from troubled areas have been made easy by arrangements that are made by the government at Kohat, Bannu and other refugee camps.
