While Hollywood takes over the bigger comic book conventions, it’s refreshing that there’s still cons like the Long Beach Comic Expo that remember they’re supposed to be about bringing together fans, creators and exhibitors to celebrate all things comic books. Now in its sixth year, this con is bigger than ever, and will fill five-times more floor space with celebrity guests, panels, exhibitors and the ever-popular Artist Alley. Drawing talent from big name artists to web comic creators, this year’s Comic Expo will also mark the awarding of the inaugural Dwayne McDuffie Award for Diversity, named in honor of the late creator of Static Shock and the minority-owned Milestone Media. Come nab some autographs, meet your favorite creators, have a pro artist draw you a custom picture, pick up some merch and meet fellow comic book lovers.
