Smothers Theatre at Pepperdine University (Malibu, CA)

Now in its second decade of premiering original pieces, with more than 160 new works to date, the acclaimed Northwest Dance Project arrives at Pepperdine from Portland to perform a selection of their cutting-edge contemporary works. The innovative output from founding artistic director Sarah Slipper and her eight-member mixed company ranges from dark theatricality to light-hearted fun. Slipper, who Dance International Magazine said is “changing the way dance is created,” has staged adaptations of Harold Pinter’s play Betrayal and a full-company piece based on Rodin’s sculptures.
