Ben Folds is well-known for his catchy piano-driven power-pop (heard in songs like “Brick,” “Army” and “You Don’t Know Me”), but he’ll be dropping the bass in a whole new way on this summer’s concert tour. For his new landmark album slated for release this year, the Nashville native teamed up with contemporary classical sextet yMusic to create orchestral tracks that he describes as straight-up rock “with odd instrumentation.” This means no bass, and more often than not, no drums — just piano, cello, viola, violin, flutes, French horn and clarinets. The concert will be held at one of the area’s most gorgeous venues, the open-air Greek Theatre.
