Beauty: Holiday Hair with Moroccanoil Part One

Back in September I had the privilege of attending an event hosted by Moroccanoil’s Stylist and Artistic Director Antonio Corral Calero. He was gracious enough to give us a few hair tutorials for some quick and easy hairstyles. Today I’m going to show you my version of one of those looks, which I think is a great style for this Holiday Season.

Let’s begin, shall we?

First, take your freshly-washed damp hair and spread some Moroccanoil Treatment throughout your hair, focusing on the ends. Then take a round brush and blow-dry your hair straight.

Once your hair is dry and straight, grab a bit of Moroccanoil Styling Gel and spread it throughout your dry hair. This preps your hair for the next step, which is splitting your hair in sections and using your curing iron to curl your hair into wavy loose curls.

After you’ve curled all of your hair, add a bit of hairspray to lock in the curls. You can then take a good bit of hair at the top of your head and tease it with either a straight comb or a teasing brush (Moroccanoil makes a great one!). You want to get a bit of volume in that area so teasing will give it that extra shape the hairstyle needs. Once you are done teasing, lightly smooth away any fly-always with your brush.

Now comes the fun part! Gather your hair at the nape of your neck as if you were about to make a ponytail. Move your hand down the gathered hair until you almost get to the ends. Take the ends and start rolling it up towards your head. Keep rolling it up gathering all of the hair as you continue to roll it upwards. Now this can be a bit tricky at first but it gets much easier after trying it a few times.

Once your hair is rolled up gathered at the nape of your neck, secure it with bobby pins.  Now the sides are probably sticking out a bit at this point so take any loose hair and start twisting it inwards, then secure with some bobby pins. Tuck in any leftover loose hair and put in as many pins as you feel you need to secure the hairstyle.

Remember, it doesn’t have to look perfect. This season, hair is all about texture so you don’t have to wear a perfectly-finished style. Have fun with it and personalize it to your taste.

To finish, I used Moroccanoil Molding Cream around my bangs to move any stray hairs around the side. Once I had the look I wanted I set it with some hair spray and voila – a holiday look in under 45 minutes!
