Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal has denied accusations that he had paid Zahida, the actress, a sum of RM 1.5 million and on Monday threatened that he will sue Zahida for such accusations.

Apdal spoke after a silence of one week and said that he is not paying any amount of money to Zahida for the accused “intimate relationship”. The scandal emerged on the media in the previous week when a man registered the complaint to police office regarding Zahida who is a local actress. Apdal is reported to have also threatened to take legal action against anyone who tries to defame him and attempts to raise questions on his dignity. His Twitter account had a series of tweets commenting on the matter which said, “All the information written in that police report are absolutely false and other statements by other individuals who distributed the police report are ill-intentioned and for political purposes.”

He also said, “I have been following closely various reports in the media and blogs that have linked my name to a police report dated March 13, 2012, by a person named Noor Azman Azemi, who claims to be under my employ as a driver, linking me with the payment of a large amount of money to an artiste by the name of Zahida Mohamed Rafik. I wish to state that everything that has been mentioned in the police report is completely untrue and that the subsequent comments by individuals who have distributed copies of the police report is with bad intent and politically motivated.”
