Afghanistan Taliban stops rescue efforts after earthquake
“The exact number of persons who have gone missing is unknown. Some people are still searching for the missing, according to local media and rescuers. Cordaid’s country head in Kabul, Marco Savio, informed me that it’s possible that the majority had already been discovered. There is no need for heavy machinery because the majority of homes are built of mud.
According to Save the Children, the death toll is expected to grow. The humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan has worsened since the Taliban gained control, and now the earthquake is adding to the misery. Sanctions on the Taliban rule have already contributed to the collapse of the economy.”
