Is this one of those OMG moments where you have to roll your eyes? First there were the royal initials. According to the story, our royal couple were considering decorative letters for various wedding souvenirs like plates using a W for William and a C for Catherine. Fortunately, a designer noticed the connection with W.C. (water closet) and danger of toilet humour. According to Britain’s Mirror, the new plan calls for the C above the W. Whew that was close.

Now there is a new report of a potential laugh at the expense of the royals where a company is now marketing commemorative condoms. Yep, you heard me correctly.

Royal Jewels Condoms of Distinction is marketing their novelty item with the classy catchphrase: “Like a Royal Wedding, intercourse with a loved one is an unforgettable occasion.”

They go on to describe their product:

To celebrate the engagement of Prince William of Wales to Ms. Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, Crown Jewels Condoms of Distinction has commissioned a unique heritage edition Royal Wedding Souvenir boîte de capotes.

Combining the strength of a Prince with the yielding sensitivity of a Princess-to-be, Crown Jewels condoms promise a royal union of pleasure. Truly a King amongst Condoms.

·         Presented in a timeless souvenir heirloom collector’s box.
·         Contains three individually wrapped condoms.
·         Includes a collectable portrait of the Royal Couple as they might appear on their wedding day – exclusively created for Crown Jewels.

I note the following disclaimer:

Crown Jewels Royal Wedding Souvenir Condoms are not supplied to, or approved by, Prince William of Wales, Catherine Middleton or any member of the Royal Family.

Well, that doesn’t come as any surprise. But, there does seem to be one surprise. Note the following warning:

Crown Jewels Royal Wedding Souvenir Condoms are a novelty condom not suitable for contraception or protection against STDs.

What? You sell a product marketed as a "condom" then you turn around and say it will not function as a condom? I’m sorry, just what the heck is this? Use this product and you may just end up with a few more heirs royal or otherwise.
