According to a few Conservatives, MP Justin Trudeau must explain why he retweeted Adam Carroll’s angry outburst so ardently.
"I also think it’s important that we know how the member for Papineau (Trudeau) was involved in this campaign," Conservative MP Candice Hoeppner said in the Commons.
According to NDP MP Pat Martin, inviting Carroll to the committee is useless. It would only distract the Commons from the major issue at hand.
"The oldest – the oldest trick in the book is to say, ‘What a stupid place to hang a piano and then everybody looks, wow,’" Martin said. "It’s change the channel at all costs."
On the other hand, Interim Liberal leader Bob Rae says Carroll, an employee, is handling the Twitter account that revealed the grimy details of Toews’ divorce and private affairs. Allegedly, Carroll has not breached any law.
Before Carroll’s identity was made public, such internet harassment was unanimously condemned by the Liberals as well as other parties. Nevertheless, Carroll’s sordid tweets cannot yet be proven illegal. Carroll is unlikely to face further sanction.
