In a recently aired episode of Ford brothers’ new media show, Ford Nation, Toronto’s Mayor Rob Ford finally confessed that he had lied about his drug problem last year. The confession has brought extraordinary attention to the Ford brothers’ return to media with their YouTube debut of Ford Nation.
Mayor Ford’s brother, Doug Ford, read an email from “Sandra in Bangkok,” during a segment called “Rob Ford comes clean,” in response to which the mayor replied that “A) I do not have a substance abuse problem.” He elaborated saying “did I experiment with drugs? Yes I have. Why did I lie? I think because… everyone in the world has lied. I was embarrassed.” He added “I didn’t want to tell the truth. That’s the only answer I can give. I’m as straightforward as can be. I’m not a drug addict. I don’t use drugs. Have I in the past? Yes.” Previously, Mr. Ford alleged that he was not asked the right question about his drug use or the crack video.
Ford brothers have launched their third media show in the last two years, entitled Ford Nation, since their previous television show, shot in the same format, was cancelled by Sun News after only one episode last year. They have also hosted a radio show on Newstalk 1010 for almost two-years. The new show features a series of short videos where the Fords take questions and spout campaign pledges. Four new clips, all with minimal production value, were posted Monday.
