The Geffen Playhouse presents Build, the story of two video game designers — Kip and Will — who become legends when their game rockets to mega success. But the fame and money serves only to drive them apart. Will becomes focused on dollars, turning into an uptight businessman. Kip goes to the other extreme, hiding away from the world and mourning the recent loss of his wife. Then, Kip and Will’s separate lives reunite, suddenly, in a high-stakes gamble to produce a new multi-billion dollar game. But when they come together, Will discovers that Kip has not been alone after all. He’s built a whole new world, complete with an artificial intelligence to whom he escapes to ease his loss. Can the two men resolve their differences, face the past, and find a way forward (and perhaps out) through the confusing terrain of technology’s brave new world?
