On Wednesday, December 28, 2011, the Toronto Police Service issued a news release, making the public aware of a Child Abduction/Sexual Assault investigation.
It is reported that:
− on Monday, December 26, 2011, between 3 a.m. and 3:30 a.m., a man entered a house in the Bathurst Street/Wilson Avenue area
− a young girl was abducted from the house and sexually assaulted by the man
− family members located the young girl minutes after the abduction and saw a man fleeing the scene
On Saturday, February 18, 2012, at 5:19 p.m., Ryan Belbin, 28, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:
1) Break-and-Enter
2) Abduction of Person Under Fourteen
3) Sexual Assault
4) Sexual Interference
The accused was scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West, on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, room 306, at 10 a.m.
Police believe there may be more victims.
