Doug Horner, one of the aspirers for Stelmach’s spot says: “Some of us have been going at this for a long time. What I think is exceptional is that we come into this room, it’s standing room only for two and a half hours. It shows there is revitalization within the party. People are interested in what we have to say.”

All six hopefuls came forward with their agendas and viewpoint at the Progressive Conservative leadership forum on Wednesday. Their focal point mainly revolved around health care, municipal financing and power-line construction.

Rick Orman, another budding politician said: “If you are not for change, there are five other candidates who are eminently capable of continuing the status quo.” He added: “The party has come out with the polling stations, so we can start another campaign to get the vote out.”

At least 1,000 people showed up to support the six promising candates: Doug Horner, Alison Redford, Ted Morton, Gary Mar, Doug Griffiths and Rick Orman.

Highlighting his agenda to the audience, Ted Morton said: “I was the first candidate to add this issue (healthcare) and propose a possible tax credit. I’m glad Rick has adopted it. Thanks, Rick.” He added: “Bill 50 is a huge overbuild of the electrical system that’s going to triple the electricity costs. It’s a job killer for many of our industries.”
