In Karachi, the MSA (Maritime Security Agency) arrested 25 Indian fishermen on Thursday. They also seized four Indian fishing boats as they allegedly entered into the Pakistani waters. The Maritime Security Agency handed over the people to the Docks police for further legal action, the sources reported.
The fishermen were held in custody on the early morning on Wednesday by the Maritime Security Agency.
These fishermen were arrested because of catching fish in Pakistani waters as the officials said, "Continuous intrusion of Pakistani waters", was the cause of their arrest.
The four boats Gadia Karia, Manga Raj, Ganga and Nerigar were found fishing illegally within the EEZ, Exclusive Economic Zone, of Pakistan, an MSA spokesman said.
Against these fishermen, the Docks police has registered an FIR (264/11) under section 3/4 and 3/9 of Foreign and Fishery Acts.
On charges of violating the maritime boundary, the two countries, India and Pakistan, arrest hundreds of fishermen every year.
Both of the countries have considered taking some steps in recent time to speed up the release of certain fishermen who have completed their jail terms.
