For relief and rescue work in the flood-affected eastern districts the government of Uttar Pradesh has sanctioned Rs 2 crore.
NDRF (National Defense Reserve Fleet) and PAC (Parliamentary Accounts Committee) teams have been given an alert and a PAC contingent has been send to Jaunpur and Mirzapur districts.
The authorities said that the grant will be given to needy people and will not be delayed.
As predicted there might be severe emergency situation in the these areas, the authorities like District Magistrates of the concerned districts have also been given an alert to take any necessary actions.
The official instructions have been issued to provide “ex-gratia” of Rs 1 lakh. This ex-gratia will be collected from the kin of people who were killed in rain related incidents.
For relief work, according to the previous records, the government has already provided an initial grant of Rs 32.16 crore. The grant was given only to the affected districts.
In eastern Uttar Pradesh, in the last couple of days, at least 48 people have been killed. The rains also damaged many homes in several districts of eastern UP.
