Supreme Court ordered the government of Punjab to allow the suspended doctors in regards to the drug reaction case to resume back to their duties.
The government of Punjab has announced to adhere to the orders passed by the Supreme Court on Friday in respect to the doctors. The government of Punjab had suspended a few senior doctors associated with the drug reaction case in Lahore. However, the Young Doctor Association (YDA) launched a strike Thursday morning demanding the doctors be brought back to their duties at the earliest, and refused to check any patients in any of the government hospitals.
The decision was announced by the three member panel consisting of Justice Anwar Zaheer, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, and Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani saying that doctors work towards a noble cause and must look after their patients at any cost. The court remarked, “We are sanguine that they (doctors) will not leave their ailing patients unattended.”
The court has further ordered the president and the secretary of YDA to come before the court and put their demands in front of the court instead to the government. They are required to come to the court on Monday, 20th February.
The government of Punjab also highlighted before the court that the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) was not supporting the strike action initiated by YDA and that they were in constant touch with the YDA members for negotiations. However, YDA acted before any solid conclusion was derived at.
