Philippines’ authorities have pointed their finger towards China on Friday over the escalation of the standoff in the China Sea which carried on for ten days.

Philippine accused China of taking the matters to the next level by bringing a third vessel into the disputed water territory. The issue of the jurisdictions of the water between Philippines and China caught the attention of the world on April 10 when Philippines highlighted that some Chinese fishermen were entering their territory without the right to. The Chinese naval authorities responded to the event by sending two of their vessels into the water and the standoff continued for several days. Where the leaders of both the countries were constantly encouraging each other to resolve the matter via talks, the naval squads were not backing off.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Philippines Raul Hernandez explained in a press conference that the move made by China was taken to be that to intentionally trying to escalate the matter as it sent two coastal ships to the area where Philippines warship vessel had found Chinese fishermen poaching into the Philippines territory and restricted them from taking them into custody. As soon as Philippines was sure that China was not intending to back off, they replaced their warship vessel with costal guard ship and the matter kept on lingering on with both the sides pressurizing the other to withdraw first.

One the other hand, the state news agency of China claims that they had only sent the third vessel to Scarborough Shoal because Philippines had refused to withdraw their coastal guard ship.
