A judge is set to announce his decision this morning of a ‘conflict-of-interest case’ levied on the Mayor of Toronto, Rob Ford, that will decide whether Toronto’s Mayor stays in office or not.

Ford has been accused of breaking the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act, by speaking and voting at city council in February on topic of whether he shall be repaying $3,150 in donations collected for his football charity. A little while after that vote, a Toronto resident Paul Magder filed a lawsuit posing that Ford completely violated the act, so he shall be fired from his job and banned from ever running for the office again.

Ford testified in court in September, stating that that he was never made aware of the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act, as it was not included in the handbook handed over to the city councilors, which outlines all the rules for declaring conflicts. An Ontario Superior Court Justice, Charles Hackland, announced after hearing the case on Sept. 6, that he will try to make a decision in the conflict case involving Ford as soon as possible.

Now the decision of this case is due to release at 10 a.m. ET Monday. It is up to Hackland to decide if Ford is guilty, he can order him out of office and ban him from running again for up to seven years. But, if Hackland learns Ford was unaware of his doings and it was a simple error in judgment, the mayor would keep his job.
