Ottawa man Wassim Outifrakh charged with two counts of impaired driving causing death

On Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 7:41 am, a female driver (age 54) was travelling northbound on Dunning Road driving a Chrysler Sebring. At the same time, a male driver (age 24) was driving an Infiniti eastbound on Beaton Road.

The Infiniti failed to stop for the stop sign and entered the intersection barely avoiding one vehicle before colliding with the Chrysler. The impact of the collision caused both vehicles to lose control entering the northeast ditch of Dunning Road. 

Ottawa Fire Services and Ottawa Paramedic Service attended the scene. The female driver of the Chrysler was fatally injured.

The male driver of the Infiniti was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and subsequently released into police custody.

Yesterday, the Ottawa Police Service charged Wassim Outifrakh, 24 year old, of Ottawa with one count of Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and one count of Driving while ability impaired causing death. 

He is scheduled to appear in court today. 

The Collision Investigations Unit is still investigating.
